Election Ed
It's interesting to listen to kids talk about the upcoming election. My son frequently declares who he is going to vote for based on what he overhears my husband and I talking about. Because he's only 9, I find myself reminding him of that fact and that he has a long way to go before he understands enough to make a decision like that. I'm trying to get him to understand that as much as it would be great for him to agree with his parents, people need to make voting choices on more than their parents' say so.
Then again, without revealing my allegiances, I have met adults who have based their decisions on exactly that or less!
Anyway, Time for Kids runs a great section on election info for kids at http://www.timeforkids.com/TFK/election08/. It describes the issues, the candidates stands on those issues and explains the election process. With a little luck, maybe the next time my son reveals his preference for president to my father, he'll be able to back up his reasoning (as someone passes my Dad a valium!)
